Lioness,
When elephants are born into captivity, they are tied to wooden steaks in the ground from the moment they are born. As babies, they are far too weak to pull these immovable sticks out of the ground and eventually stop trying. So later, no matter how large and strong they become, they continue to believe that they are unable free themselves.I am one of those elephants. I grew up with all these self imposed limitations that led me to believe I was never good enough. I was a pushover and allowed people to walk all over me. I sacrificed up my own happiness for others’ because I thought that’s what I had to do in order to have a social life. I accepted way less than I deserved. Well, I turned 21 last week and I celebrated by finally working up the courage to leave my emotionally abusive boyfriend of 4 years. And as a gentle reminder to myself, I got an elephant tattooed on my arm. So that each and every day, it is a constant reminder not to succumb to the barriers I’ve placed on myself for.Lots of love,-D

Can we all just stop and say ‘You’re fucking incredible’? Because you are. Your tattoo is amazing. Your body is amazing, your words need be heard and shared and you are worth more than you could possibly give yourself credit for. I’m so proud of you for walking away from an unhealthy situation and freeing yourself. You are an inspiration. Gah, so proud. Xoxo

Don’t talk to yourself in such a way that if you did so to a friend, it would end your friendship.

If you had a friend dealing with the same things, you wouldn’t berate that person, say, ‘You’re not working hard enough,’ ‘You suck,’ or ‘You’re not as good as [whomever].’ You’d offer your friend encouragement, you’d try to point out all the things your friend did right, and how much progress your friend had made.

You should do no less for yourself. Be very careful how you talk to yourself. Because you are listening.

Stand-Up Month is back and bigger than ever. In fact, it’s too big for just one calendar month, with Hannibal Buress’ “Live From Chicago” premiering last Saturday, March 29. Sorry, but we got too excited.
Five more brand new one-hour specials will also premiere over the next five weeks, from stand-up heavyweights Patton Oswalt, Dave Attell, Tracy Morgan, Jim Gaffigan and David Spade, as well as an all-new late-night uncensored stand-up series, “Comedy Underground with Dave Attell.”
CC:Stand-Up will also feature a different comedian every day in April, so be on the lookout for free downloads from that day’s artist on CC:Direct, full specials running on the Comedy Central channel on Sirius XM, stand-up highlight clips & memes, and more.
Settle in. You have a lot of comedy to watch.
